“I was found asleep, in the midst of the sheep, at the foot of a juniper tree up there on the Causse
de Quercy on a day of bright sunshine. It was autumn of the year 1901...”

These words will lead you into the life of Marie, her family and village at the dawn
of the twentieth century.
Inspired by the novel of Christian Signol, “Marie des Brebis”, the show is narrated in French,
but is accessible to all through its vivid scenes. It offers a rare chance to understand first-hand
the ups and downs of life of a rural family, as we follow Marie through two world wars,
from horse drawn transport and into the 1960s.
The son et lumière is for everyone – young and old – who can either relive their past or marvel
at the lives of their parents or grandparents. An experience not to be missed!
The show starts at dusk on the 12, 13, 15 and 16 August 2019.
Above all, come and eat here at Gandoulès before the show! Food and drink are available from
Chez Jean-Pierre, manned by our volunteers from 7 pm onwards. The meals are excellent value, with a main course costing a mere 5€.
